Biography
Quinten Vermeulen (2002) is a visual artist working with photography and installation based in Brussels. He is fascinated by the process of everyday life and the photographic medium. In his practice these two elements go hand in hand. He captures a lot of small actions and interventions in images, from there on different works emerge. He pours reality into different forms and scales and is simultaneously questioning the medium of photography. In the darkroom the format, material and intervention shapes the work. The big collection of images became his vivid archive and the starting point for each work. The process of printing itself is visible in the result of the work. We see movement, delay, color, form, scaling and daily treasures.
After a period in Iceland and several artist residencies, he graduated with a master's degree in visual arts at LUCA School of Arts Brussels. In 2026, he will have his first solo show in Rhizome_, Kortrijk (BE). His work has been presented in Botanique (BE), Fondation A (BE), Vleeshal (NL), CC Hasselt (BE), HetPaviljoen (BE), Verksmiðjan (IS), K.L.8 (BE), Korpulfsstadir (IS), Entrepot (BE), BredaPhoto (NL).
